We Are very happy to announce, that we have a 4-week beginners course starting up on 7th of March!
The course is tailored for people who have little or no previous experience on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
There will be 2 sessions per week
- Tuesdays 20.00 – 21.00
- Thursdays 19.00 – 20.00
The goal of the course is to learn the basic techniques. After the course, practitioners are free to join in the advanced classes.
Here are the things you will learn after the course
- Hip escape
- 1 take down (Double leg / single leg)
- Min. 1 escape from Back, Mount and Side control
- Min. 1 guard passing technique from closed guard and half guard
- 1 sweep from closed guard and half guard
- Triangle and armbar from guard
You don’t need any special gear/equipment for the course.
Here’s a short-list of things you need for the classes
- Shorts and t-shirt
- Bottle of water
- Sweat towel
- Cut your nails

Below you can see the structure of each class.
Week 1 – Guard
the very basics of Guard
Tuesday armbar offense & defense
This session will be used to get people comfortable being in guard (bottom and top) and teach them how to do an armbar and how to escape from an armbar
Put lot of emphasis on hip escapes and falling down practices
Thursday – passing and opening the guard
Do a quick recap of the techniques from the previous class (speed drills 2 x 1 minute/person). Don’t let people get stuck on getting technique down perfectly, the idea is just to get plenty reps done
Basic closed guard opening technique + knee cut pass. Show how to establish the position in side control once the guard has been passed.
If people get pass done right and you feel take could take in little bit more information, show them a basic side control escape
Week 2 – Guard part 2
Sweeping and attacking
Tuesday – Triangle + escape
Go through the basics of the guard as a recap. Teach triangle and how to escape from triangle
Sparring: 1-2 rounds of positional sparring from closed guard (3 mins). No submissions. Focus on sweeps and escapes
Thursday – Half guard
“Half guard how to”. Go through the importance of under hooks. Teach a sweep from Half guard
Sparring: 1-2 rounds of sparring starting from half guard (3 mins). No submissions. focus on sweeps and escapes
Week 3 – Half guard + side control
Advancing the position
Tuesday – Passing half guard + advancing the position
Demonstrate how much more control you gain by having the cross face. Use the cross face in the passing sequence. Advance to side control and from side to mount. Show how to establish good mount.
If you have spare time and people are not overly marinated of information, show how to escape from Mount
Sparring: 1-2 rounds of normal sparring from half guard (4 mins). Submissions that you have shown can be done during the sparring. Remind everyone about tapping!
Thursday – Side control offense and defense
Do a quick recap on how to pass half guard. Show kimura from side control and how to escape from side control
Sparring: 1-2 rounds of sparring (4 mins). No restrictions
Week 4 – Back position – attacking and escaping
Tuesday – Back position do’s and dont’s
How to establish good control from the back. Remind people not to cross their legs. Show RNC and basic escape from back
Sparring: 1-2 rounds of normal sparring from the back(4 mins). Submissions that you have shown can done during the sparring. Remind everyone about tapping!
Thursday – “Graduation Day”
Beginners will jump into advanced class. We will SUPER HARD warm up around 45 minutes, and the remaining 45 minutes will spend rolling.
On Saturday of that week, we will go out for a beer with graduates.
